Do "Sport" headlights (Dual bulb) exist for the 2003 3500, and is so, where would I get them and which part number are they? It seems all the ones I find only fit the
2002 and older.
Also, do the sport lights have a glass or plastic face? buffing my plastic lenses clear again is getting old.

I was going to install the Britebox and fog light kit, with the Phillips HIR 9012 bulbs from Candle Power Inc.
Any advantages to going with the 9005 bulb over the 9006?
Anyone have issues with the Britebox?

HID and LED look interesting and have low power draw, but I'm not sure how developed and dependable the after market kits are yet.

Any advice is appreciated,
Thanks,
Brett

I checked with Dodge and the "stock" headlights do supersede up to a new number, but are they any better? I too want a better headlight. David

recently replaced my headlights with depo brand like geno's sells, got mine from rockauto, little cheaper.think they are as good or better than oem.

I went onto Rockautos site and there were 2 different ones listed, both under $50 per side. Geno's are $115 each. Napa is about $149. On eBay they are all over the place for pricing. They all "look" the same. I don't want black ones just decent stock replacements. David

I too would like better headlights for my 03. My 95 headlights were even worse.
I just bought a new Toyota camry with wonderful lighting, and did not realize how bad my 03 Dodge was till now.
Headlights should not be this big a problem.

on the rockauto site when you find the lights for your truck there is a drop down window with several different brands and prices, there will be 1 or 2 listings that will be CAPA certified, thats a rebuilders certification that they are oem equals in fit and finish, usually the higher priced units.

Do you guys that don't like your OEM lights have fog lights?

I find that everyone I know locally that doesn't like their OEM lights doesn't have fogs, the people with fogs never complain.

If that's the case why not add fogs and a Brite-Box... it's a LOT of light.

I agree that the factory headlights on their own are marginal at best, but when coupled with the factory fogs, the lighting is just fine. But then again its the only vehicle I own, so I don't have anything else to compare it to other than my old 97 truck with the sport light upgrade.

On my 09 I ended up readjusting the headlights. The were aimed to high and the high beams seamed worthless. I adjusted for a happy medium for both the high and low beams and I am satisfied.

Having re-wired several other vehicles with a dedicated headlamp harness run from the battery via relays (see DANIEL STERN website; an automotive lighting engineer/consultant) my CTD will receive same. The difference between 11V and 13V+ is more than noticeable. It is not a panacea, one needs clear housings, etc, and I'd imagine that the above advice on fogs is a good second idea. I used PHILLIPS Nightguide lamps. Just changing housings and the better lamps is a considerable change.

There are harnesses available (PUTCO), I've usually made mine from ANCOR wiring and parts plus HELLA relays.

Doing the horn is also nice, especially if upgrading to a louder unit (I added HELLA horns in addition to stock).

If one anticipates these and other additions, then a PAINLESS WIRING circuit box for the battery is a recommendation.

I have fogs but my headlights are in poor condition and do need replacing. I have Light Force 170 driving lights as well, but some times you just need good headlights. David

One of the best upgrades you can do to crappy 3rd gen headlights is install Phillips XtremeVison or Xtreme Power bulbs. They are NOT a blue light gimmick...they use a redesigned filament and gas, but keep the filament in the factory location...they produce a much brighter, "natural" yellow light. You WILL notice a difference, I assure you!!! Good prices on Amazon, but I like to give my biz to Candlepower.com...they will take the time to talk with you and make sure you get wehat you need anbd also have reasonable prices and reasonable shipping rates and quick order turnaround times. Their website IS a little hard to navigate, so I would just call them and tell them (or ask them) for what you need. The XtremeVision bulbs made such a big difference on my 2005 truck, that I have started running them in all my vehicles. They also last a long time unlike some other "super bright" bulb brands.

Sounds good Seafish. First I need to get good housings. Mine are bad. I have already tried to polish them but to no avail. So who make a GOOD stock headlight? Has any one tried the ones from NAPA?

Dam I saw a pair of cleanones on another forum for $75 shipped just last week and I can't remember which forum…comp d, cumminsforum, dodge talk, theres quite a few for me to track down. On the road right now without access to my desktop, so I'll try to look em up later this weekend. AFAIK, none of the aftermarket headlights are of the same quality as the oem…too bad the oem suck!!

The OEM ones do change up to a new p/n. Has anyone bought new ones for Dodge? I'm in no rush. I don't drive the truck much during the winter. David
