My 2003 H. O. seems like it takes longer to start then my last 2001 diesel does anyone know why? My last Diesel was full of performance parts if anyone hears of performance parts for the new ones could you let me know
I have noticed that mine takes several seconds longer before it starts compared to the ones I have had in the past. I think that has been discussed on hear before. I don't think its anything to be concerned about. Its only maybe 1-2 seconds longer.
It's normal. The new 8. 1L engines in the 8020 series John Deere tractors now use hpcr fuel injection. All it is, is the ecm needs to know where TDC compression on #1 before it will start. It usually has to crank over a few times, then it starts up.
Mine takes 1 complete revolution before it fires. Probably so the sensors can self check and figure out who is next to fire. I will say its a real clean start even at 15 degrees without waiting for the intake heater grids or plugging it in. My 95' would fire in the first cylinder but would stumble quite a bit in real cold temps and would put out a smoke screen the Marines would be proud of . Man I really do miss that truck
