Would anyone possibly have the correct wire colors for the trailer tow heated, power conversion to a 1999. After all of the reading it seems the colors change for 01 and 02.

Thanks,

Troy

If you can determine the pin-out of the door harness connector, this information might help. I assume you have swapped 2003 power-towers on your bases:

From the mirror pigtail:

BLK-Mirror heat positive

BLK-Mirror heat ground

GRN-Mirror motor common

GRA-Mirror left/right

BLU-Mirror up/down

Get these matched up with the right pin in the truck harness and you're all set. Perhaps someone else can help with the connector view out of the service manual for a 1999?

I'll look in my 99 service manual tonight when I get home and let you know the wire color codes and/or pinout that I find there.

Well, I have the wiring diagram in front of me here and I'm not sure how to post all the info that is there. Am I permitted to post the copy of this one page from my service manual??? I'm thinking that may not be right.

From what I can tell, the left and right up/down/left/right have different color wires. The heat wires for left and right appear to be both Black/Light Green(-, pin5) and Light Blue/Yellow(+, pin 4).

The mirror motors are a bit more tricky:

Left:

Yellow is up/down (pin 1 in diagram)

Dark Blue/White is left/right (pin 2 in diagram)

Yellow/Pink is common for up/down/left/right (pin 3 in diagram)

From the schematic, it appears that...

Yellow(1)- and Yellow/Pink(3)+ moves mirror down

Yellow(1)+ and Yellow/Pink(3)- moves mirror up

Dark Blue/White(2)- and Yellow/Pink(3)+ moves mirror right

Dark Blue/White(2)+ and Yellow/Pink(3)- moves mirror left

Right:

Yellow/Black is up/down (pin 1 in diagram)

Dark Blue is left/right (pin 2 in diagram)

White is common for up/down/left/right (pin 3 in diagram)

From the schematic, it appears that...

Yellow/Black(1)- and White(3)+ moves mirror down

Yellow/Black(1)+ and White(3)- moves mirror up

Dark Blue(2)- and White(3)+ moves mirror right

Dark Blue(2)+ and White(3)- moves mirror left

Hope this is understandable and can help you out. I'm thinking of doing the tow mirror swap in the near future too.

I'm putting 99 heated power mirrors on my 94.

Does the left mirror plug directly to the mirror switch? I need to find a switch (if anybody knows a good source) since my 94 had plain old manual mirrors. Power and heat will be very nice.

I haven't had mine apart to tell you for sure. The wiring/circuit diagram looks like it shows the left mirror plugging directly to the switch assembly harness. It would make sense for them to do this since the 2 are basically in the exact same location.

I don't know about the earlier ones, but on a 2001, they are separate connectors attatched to the door about three inches apart from each other.

Thanks for all of the help guys. Pretty easy to figure out once you get in there. I got confused when there were 2 blue wires.

Stg2500's wire colors are also correct for a '99.

All who are planning it, it's a job, just time consuming. Not really hard. Took 5 hours on the passenger side but was going real slow. Getting ready to do the drivers side now and post on that in a (few!) hours. Thanks to everyone for your time and help.

There are seperate connectors for a '99 also for the joystick control.

There ya go! I agree, time consuming. But being a first-time operation, and not wanting to break anything on either of the $300 a pair mirrors, taking the time is well worth it. You'll love them Troy!

Took about 3 hours on the drivers side but there was nothing to grind off as in earlier instructions. The spring on this side gave me fits. It was hard to keep the wire compressed. I used the springs from the '03 mirrors as they look stronger. Now for a test drive today. I will have someone mess up the mirrors just so I can readjust them from the drivers seat!!!

Thanks for everyones help.

TEaton, you could just drive around with them up one day, then down every other day, just to get more practice adjusting them too D)
