2004 25004x4 smoke under dash intermintent

when driving vehicle smoke under dash by feet ,or steering wheel area intermintent,anybody seen this problem

Whoa! That would concern me.

Does it smell like electrical?



Unless you're getting some drift of oil dripping on the exhaust or coming from the breather tube and getting through a leak in the firewall there shouldn't be any smoke in the cab.

I agree with Danavilla I had smoke in that area it was the harness and plug going to the ignition switch

I think the tilt wheel pinches some wires. Needs checked out pronto.

I know this doesn't help you, but I was driving home from the graveyard shift one morning, sun just shining through the window, little stream of smoke rising straight up from the steering column. I pulled over in a panic. Continued on home where I took it apart. Never found out where it came from and it never developed into anything. It was a VW bus.
