no kidding. and I wish I had a nickle for every time some dealer told me he heard from a rep who has a good friend inside the factory who knew someone inside cummins who was close to the engine design team ... . you know the drill. The HP ratings game is fun to watch, to be sure, but I gotta agree that, even if true, the real benefit will be small.

and think about how difficult it will be to even touch that new engine with so much as an exhaust mod. dollars to krispy kremes it will have a CAT of some kind, probably a Fleetguard particulate filter, so not only will an exhaust mod violate the emissions warranty, you'll fail the next emissions test. Of course I'm only speculating here myself, but the way it seems to me, the engines we have now are the last real ones that you can do anything with.

Today I ordered a 2004 Ram 3500 SLT Quad Cab 4x2, 5. 9L Cummins T. D. , with automatic, single rear wheels, long bed, limited slip diff. with 3:73 gears, trailer tow group & mirrors, security group, light group, tow hooks, engine block heater, side air bags, sliding rear window, power adjutable pedals, front hood protection shield and other goodies.

Can't wait for it to arrive. Thanks for all your information and support. I'll report on the new rig in December.

Here's the deal on the 2004. 5 Cummins.

There will be no HO Cummins and all new motors will go to current California specs with EGR and partical catcher to meet Jan '04 emissions requirements. Now how do you like them apples?

My post is all speculation as it seems anyone can start rumors. I don't know who started this 325/600 rumor, but I think it started either here or another site with someone saying that a dealer told them that was what was going to happen.

I don't think any dealer knows anything more then I know on what is going to happen. My feeling is that they are just talking a product up so possible customers don't go run off and buy a different brand before they have something to sell them.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but who knows? But I can say that I highly doubt 325/600 because then Dodge will most likely have to go with a different Auto or go to Manuals for the 325/600 and possibly the current 305/555 for the autos.
