I need guidance!! At 35000 miles #4 injector leaked and since there were no indications until the pan filled and crankcase pressure undercoated the car behind me I ate a turbo. All my gauges (pyro, boost) water temp were normal. 3 weeks, 5000 miles later I smelled diesel and pulled over with the same thing. I asked star (warranty) to replace all the injectors the first time but was told it was not a pervasive problem. Now I will have to get dealer to do another pressure test and wait several days for parts. Do I :

1 Trade the pos in and get an 06? (What about the sllsf)

2 Take it to a build shop and have new injectors installed out of pocket?

3 Let Chrysler do 1 at a time and have to walk every 3 weeks.

4 Do a 5 gallon run around and go back to a Hemi? :-laf

5 Order an 07 cab&chassis and hope the new 6. 7 cad system found all the bugs(60% parts are untested)

6 By a Freightliner with a BIG motor and see if I can green slip it?

All advise is greatly appreciated

Aftermarket injectors--- better than stock???

The after market injectors are they better than the stock ones? I know they have more power, what about carbon, tip life. Does the mileage come up a little? The way DC is dening warranty it would be nice to know a better alternative than stock replacements. The after market is alot cheaper than DC prices. any comments

you eather get a set that has been checked out and is good or you have a bad set, some parts can be replaced but bosch still has not released the most important ball and seat section, thats what shuts fuel on and off in ours.

Diesel Power

The #4 injector body had a crack and it is my understanding that that has been the main problem with these injectors. If the ball did not seal it would cause the engine to hydraulic and either kick the crank or a rod out. Is this because of the lack of lubrication in the fuel?

We normally have exchange injectors in stock. They can be stock or Stage 3 injectors. We have had many bad cores come in from customers. They mostly need new control barrel and plungers to make them good again. Your injectors probably have a similar failure. I have a core peddler comming in next week and he says he has some good cores (Dodge C/R). If that holds true then we could be back in the C/R injector rebuilding bussiness again. Bosch needs to release the injector parts like they were suppose to last spring. Thanks

Why would Bosch release parts when they can screw us all for 450 bucks each on new ones. Sorry guys but this crap really p***es me off. Bosch provides us with junk injectors, blames North American fuel, has DC blame the fuel and deny warranties, then runs to their favorite Swiss bank with our money. Garabage injectors PERIOD. I am on my last new Dodge I might buy a used PRE-common rail ctd. But I would rather buy a gasser than another new CTD/PSD/Dura-crap (I don't tow so I dont "need" the diesel I just like 'em). Ok I feel better now.

i kinda feel the same way.

update

Thought I would post an update. This time it was #6 injector and after call the warranty hot line I was told that DCX warranty will not replace the other injectors until they leak!!! No matter that I may be stuck in a blizzard or that it's a $45000. 00 vehicle. I was stupid enough to pull of to save the turbo but now wish that I had tried to hydraulic the engine, bet that would have gotten all the injectors  Looks like I will ad a few days to any trip and plan on using the Harley while I wait but thats what I bought a toy hauler for.

If you know anyone that is having this same problem and wants to start a class action against DCX/Cummins/Bosh please pm me

So what has happened with the truck? Did the # 6 injector get replaced. My truck just did the same as yours. Oil all over the place and oil on dipstick about 4 inch to high. Every thing was normal egt, boost, and oil pressure. I did not know I had a problem until I stoped for a red light, the oil pressure went to 0 and a check gage light showed up on the dash. Only 15000 miles on the truck, AAA will be taking the truck to a dealer  tomorrow.

DCX replaced only the #6 injector and changed the oil and filter. The turbo did not seem to be hurt this time. I only have 4 more to go and I will have all new injectors :{ , of course that is if none of the replaced ones split! I asked my dealer for a price on a 2006 3500 just like I have and he ONLY wanted $14500. 00us. Not sure what I will do next at this point its 1 day at a time.

I should hear something today. I am thinking the same thing, should I dump this truck and get something else. A 2007 now. or wait for the new 6. 7 with the 6speed auto.
