It lasted 2. 25 years and 75759 miles before dying on my way home yesterday. Had it towed to the dealership and they will have the pump in on Monday. Starting to appreciate the 100k warranty now.
The one you'll get is the in-tank lift pump and as long as you leave the truck stock or mild mod you'll never have to worry about it again. Yes, they are almost that reliable now.
I know there was a module that looked very much like a fuel pump in the tank when I did the fuel tank breather hose upgrade. Hopefully it is an upgraded pump though. After the 100,000 runs out I don't want to be messing around dropping the tank. Of course I had almost a full tank of fuel in there when it died.
Just make sure that they actually install the new pump... read about one fellow who had the in tank pump installed by the dealer when his original failed. He dropped the tank later to do some work; lo and behold there was no pump in the tank! Needless to say they're headed for court...
My 04. 5 lift pump went in 26 months and 60,000 miles. Left me stranded on a freeway off-ramp, 350 miles from home towing a 5th Wheel. The Auto Club and a great local dealer had me on my way the next day
