I am thinking of ordering a 04. 5 with the 48RE transmission and wanted to findout some answers to a few questions.

1. What hp can the auto transmission hold before needing upgrades?

2. What kind of hp can I make from a box without changing turbo or injectors?

3. Can I make it stronger than my chevy (dyno 375hp) from just a fueling enhancement?

I know the trucks aren't out yet but maybee someone can tell me what to expect from the transmission.

I am hoping to get a 2004. 5 as well if my 99 will hurry up and sell. My plan is to use it stock 325/600 for the duration of the warranty and after that have DTT install their TC as well as massage the transmission over. By that time I'm SURE there will be plenty of boxes available that will put it over you're chevy's 375, but my plan will be to do whatever is neccessary to get it to the 450-500HP range. At this point that appears as if it might be possible by then with just a fuel/timing box and bigger turbo... time will tell.

If thats the case then an EZ should be fine for the 48 then?

1. DTT says 400hp

2. 350rwhp with the stock turbo. More can be made with injectors, etc, but EGT's will be unmanageable.

3. "just fueling"? Fueling is everything. 500+rwhp

Keith: Sorry, I jumped the gun... . I realized that you said in another thread that you guys haven't worked on a '04. 5 yet. My bad.

Looking at the '03+ service manual makes me cringe when I see all them expensive fuel parts.
