2004.5 Power Steering Pump

Are there any Dodge parts guy types here that can explain the current state of OEM replacement pumps on a truck like mine? My local parts guy, who is pretty good, said that it is easier to source an older complete replacement pump/pulley/reservoir than it is to piece it together from the "new" updated parts book. My parts guy is sourcing an old pump assembly from another dealer but when it poops out again, I would like to understand my options a bit better.

I have a new pump for my '03 sitting on the shelf as an insurance policy. That means I'll probably never need it. The p/n is 52013978AD. It includes the pulley and reservoir.
