Good morning all. Would appreciate your thoughts on replacing what appears to be a failing TPS on my 2004. 5 automatic with close to 200K on the clock.
I have read as many applicapable threads on this great site as I could find about the symptoms of a failing TPS, (which I definately have: Codes P2121, P2123 & intermintent dead pedal), the replacement procedure, and the most cost efficient place to purchase a replacement TPS. But the one thing that I didn't find any mention of, was going to a junk yard and buying a used one.
I'm on borrowed time at the moment, and thought that might be a good alternative depending on several factors. Would the junk yard have pulled the part and tested for functionality? Will I have to pull it and roll the dice? The visible condition of the donor truck. Cost vs new. Will the used part work on a different truck? What about calibration? Is that possible with a used part?
Thanks for your thoughts and advise,
Ralph Crum
