I have seen several posts referring to 2004. 5

What is this? Is it a special version of the 2004 model year?

There was a mid-year release to meet the January 2004 emissions regulations. Several changes to the engine and related components including a catalytic converter, and a new rating of 325hp/600 ft lbs. The 2004. 5 HO (code ETH) is commonly referred to as a "600". Also earlier SO (standard output) versions (code ETC) have been discontinued. Lots of reading on the changes if you do a search.
