im getting ready to order a 2004 ho in california dealer told me i could in july and i found a cool site that explains cooled egr and variable geometry turbo that also functions as exhaust brake. site has a video . will the new engines have vgt along with cooled egr does anyone know. the site is www.tougheststandards.cummins.com

I wonder if you could retrofit that variable geometry turbo. and

not void the warranty? and would it help at high altitude? My

HO don't pull very well at high altitude?:confused: GWD

It is quite a task to do the retrofit to an engine that does not support the VGT thru the ECM. I've been at it for about 8 months with a HY40V and the undertaking is more than I had ever anticipated. You need a minimum of four sensor inputs that can't be attained from or aren't available from the ECM, including turbo speed. My latest hurtle is the new Holset pneumatic control valve which I just received which uses a PWM (pulse width modulation) signal to adjust nozzle size.



Holset has a new electric version of the turbo that was not available when I first acquired the VGT.
