2004 valve body VBA

I just finished installing my ATS triple lock converter, valve body and billet input shaft. I was wondering if it has to have the VBA(valve body assistant) installed before it can be driven. My directions say to wire the VBA in behind the airbox, nothing there on the 04, is the ecm down on the lower left side of the motor and is this where the VBA hooks up. I still need to hook up the triple lock commander.
