Can anyone tell me if all the 2005's on the lot that say 5. 9L 600 are 600's or are they just getting rid of old stickers, It just does not make any sense. some with lower vin# are 610's some with newer vin# are 600's if you are going to shell out 40,000 don't every one want the latest and greatest.

come on (tommygun) what's the story i see your inventory is full of 2005-600's

On order 2005 larime 3500 auto lsd sb 4:10's tt hood shiels tp

Last six vin's 747637

Just got my '05 and it says 610. But there appears to be lots of '05's that say 600. If there really is any engine difference, then engines did not get married up to '05 chassis in FIFO fashion.

It's quite possible that there is absolutely no difference between a 600 and a 610 other than how the sticker got printed.

A "thicker pen on the dyno chart" theory was suggested in another thread. There may be some truth to that.

600/610

You could be right about there being no difference, but I sure would like to hear it from a Dealer mine has no clue?? there must be someone who knows the answer to the puzzle,

I looked at two 2500s and one 3500 2005s today at my dealer. All three had 600 on window sticker. That was all the 2005 Cummins they had on the lot, the rest were 2004s.

600/610 Anyone

I am sure there are some sharp tech's out there who know the answer, also tommygun must no what is going on , interesting no responses I sure would like to put this to rest, My buddy is going to buy a 2005 this will be his first diesel but every dealer's lot he has gone to only has 2005 600's So he said he will have to wait, all the dealer's he asked say it's brand new must have the newest engine??? ya Right. .

Call the Cummins tech line, it is doubtfull any Dodge dealer will know the difference between the two and what changes were made to get the increase, nothing against the dealers I just doubt they would be given that information.

I think the best way to find out, is to contact Cummins. I e-mailed DCX on this, as I got an early '05 with the 600, which also falls into the reflash category (engine build date and serial #) for the white smoke at start-up above 50 degrees, improve fuel economy and recalibrate the overhead mileage computer.

I was originally pi$$ed to find out my '05 basically came with an '04. 5 motor... ... or did it? It falls into the reflash category as most of the '04. 5's do, but maybe, as others have suggested, we all may 610 and don't know it? It sure runs good and I really don't care about the 10 extra lbs of torque, I just wanted the latest motor with any bug's worked out and hopefully one that gets better MPG's than most of the 04. 5's that I have read posts about. So far, with one fill-up to date, averaged 14 mpg, almost all city and a lot of very short trips 1-2 miles. So I am pleased with that. Can't wait to see what my towing mpg will be.
