Hi everyone I am changing trannys again, this time ATS is going to work for me!! Can someone tell me the proper way of removing the converter... . Do not know how to acess the bolts yet. Do I remove the starter to gain axcess or what am I missing? My truck has ate 4 trannys in 5 years #@$%!, 3 rebuilt by dodge and one built by a local shop after I was out of warenty... I tow 18000lbs regularly and think the boys at ATS can help. Has anyone had experience with them, could use some feedback. I am installing their stage 2 transmission with lock-up controller and 5disk converter hope this does the trick!!

There is a metal plate on the front side of the bell housing on the passenger side, mid way up, rotate the flex plate to access the bolts, there are as I recall 5 or 6 of them.

I have an ATS co-pilot, valve body and OD lock-out switch which I installed for towing. They work fine now that all the bugs are gone. As for a whole transmission or TC replacement from ATS, I'd have to consider that carefully. ATS have great components, but their customer service post-purchase needs a major overhauling. You can read the sticky at the top of this forum regarding posting one's opinions of one company over another (perception = reality for some) but I don't think there's any mechanical risk involved in choosing one transmission supplier over another.

If you search the threads here or web search ATS customer complaints (ripoffreport.com or complaintsboard.com) you'll get some idea of the problems customers have faced. I hate to bomb a TDR advertising supporter, but until ATS hires customer reps that understand post-purchase support, they're going to lose sales and customer loyalty. My apologies if this offends anyone or falls outside the sticky's guidance. This is my opinion only and is based upon personal experience.
