Been driving for 4 hours... stopped at rest stop in Fillmore UT and truck won't fire up. I did notice last couple of days tgat it's cranking longer before firing... niw won't fire at all

Is it spinning fast as normal, or does it turn slower like with weak batteries? Any other symptoms leading up to this, check engine lights, codes, missing, low power, oil level increase, etc?

Can you hear the lift pump running? Also check the connections on the CPS, fan clutch, and fuel rail pressure sensor.

More likely low rail pressure... ... ... .....

Absolutely! Now determine why.

If it started with ether, that means you were not creating enough rail pressure at crank speed to fire injector solenoids, ether allowed it to start, then the faster rpm of the CP3 kept it running. Weak batteries, bad injector(s), leaking rail pressure relief valve, loose cross connect tubes. My first action would be to re-torque cross tubes.

As I already mentioned, I know what the problem is. It's the pressure bleeding off in the return line. I'll be able to get it home using ether. When I get home my friend has a kit to diagnose which injector is bad and have it replaced. The injector used is fine, but to fix the return line the injector needs to be replaced

The "return line" as I know it has nothing to do with it not starting. As has been mentioned several times it is most likely a leak on the high pressure side, ie injectors, relief valve, connector tubes.

Rog... either way I know what needs to be replaced, and I'm no longer stranded, which is why I posted here.

Thanks so much for everyone's help!

You can follow me on another thread. It is my understanding that this section is for 911 use only. For use if the truck won't start or work right, and the person is stranded. I'm no longer stranded, therefore we probably don't need to keep feeding this thread. I'll post in the 3rd gen engine forum. Thanks again for everyone's help and attention in this. Love this site!
