2005 Dodge 48re vibration

Today (8/13/23) while coming home from vacation my truck started shaking like it had a flat tire. I pulled over and all my tires were good. I looked at my CTS monitor and noticed my transmission temp was 212. It’s never been this high. It’s usually between 150-170. I wasn’t loaded heavy just had clothes chairs and beach stuff in the bed. I pulled over and let it set for an hour while we ate. We hit the road again and all was fine for 3 hours. We got close to home and of course hit all the red lights and it shot back up again to 200 but no shaking this time. Any ideas?

Did you check under your truck for an obvious trans fluid leak? If you notice a fluid leak near the tail housing, you might be dealing with a bad forward u-joint or a bent or out of balance driveshaft. It doesn’t take much bend in the driveshaft to cause shaking and to crack the housing at the rear of the transmission.

Yeah I smoked everything over. No leaks or bad ujoints. Supports look good too. I took it to a shop and of course they didn’t see anything obvious so they recommended a rebuild. I haven’t pulled the trigger on that idea yet. I’m still driving it and all is well. It has 160k on it so I know I’m looking at a rebuild soon.

Check your TC to flex plate bolts.
