I just read page 39 of TDR 60 where BMeier writes about a friends truck not starting under 10ºF. I have a similar problem with my truck. If I do not use the block heater it will take about 30 seconds of cranking above 20ºf to start. If I use the block heater it starts fine.
I will be spending the winter in Erie PA and I need this truck to start. There are threads about new flashes for this problem and this hard starting problem occurred after a no start condition (about 45ºF) where the dealer towed it in and found no problems but flashed it anyway.
Since then long cranking times. What is a Fuel Control Actuator and what does it do? Will replacing it fix my problem? Help!
