O. K. , so I was at the local Dodge dealer on Sat. with my wife... . She wants a new Charger... . Bonus for me, so I'm down with it. I have an 03 2500HD 4x4 303/555, and I love it!!! However, I noticed a new 05 Power Wagon :--) Wow, what a nice truck! Too bad you can't get the Cummins. . Yet!?! I love the factory size this thing has. Now my question... ... .

The Power Wagon has BF Goodrich All Terrains 285x70x17 which have a diameter of 32. 8" compared to my stock BF Goodrich Rugged Trail 265x70x17 which have a diameter of 31. 5"... . Can I run the All Terrain 285x70x17's without rubbing? Please tell me I can! I asked the guys in the service department, and all I got was "Duh, I don't know?" I called a few tires places, and I have heard both yes and no. maybe the real Dodge experts here can help me? Thanks in advance for all of your input and/or feedback.

Thanks Again,

Turbo Kidd :)

Shouldn't be a problem. Some people run 315's without rubbing and some do get some rub with them. 285's shouldn't rub in normal driving situations.

I have a 2" lift in the front but that shouldn't change anything as far as rubbing goes. So I will say nothing rubs with 285s. That Power Wagon is a nice look. I have 285s. I think 295s would be the perfect look. When these BFGs are done, I'm planning on getting a set of the 295 Nittos if they are not on intergalactic backorder come that time. Maybe there will be other 295s available by then. I hope so.

i like many here have 315/70/17's under my truck. completely stock suspension in front, lowered 1" in rear [spacers relocated] and i have no rubbing... it is close with the molded front mudflaps, but it doesn't touch.

I have those tires with no other suspension mods. They fit perfectly with no rubbing even with the suspension flexed out pretty good.

Before my Kore suspension my truck was stock other than BFG 285's. Never rubbed anything. They're the perfect size tire for a stock truck.

Gents,

We recently had the pleasure of playing/hammering a Power Wagon - what a great truck!

We liked the truck so much we made a special web link for it -

Don't quote me on this, but the unfortunate news is that it will probably never come equipped with a CTD. Evidently, the front axle won't hold up under the diesel's weight while locked. Additionally, there's not enough space for the anti-sway bar disconnect device and winch to fit with the diesel's intercooler.

Great truck, though. We did things with it we didn't think possible - like crawling straight up an 18" vertical embankment. The lockers and OE suspension are a superb combination for slow-speed off-road.

We love the Power Wagon.

Best Regards,

Kent Kroeker

Well..... it seems the the jury is out, and that I can run the BF Goodrich All Terrain 285x70x17's on my stock 2500 4x4. I have 373's, will the tire size increase, change my performance much? How about fuel economy? Sorry to ask such dumb questions, but I don't know, and this seems to be the place for quick answers.

Thanks Again!

Best fuel mileage I ever saw was 19. 6@70mph avg. with 285's (still stock).

Now I'm in the 16's usually. High 17's if I drive like granny.

I get around 15-16 mpg in town with around 19-20 mph hwy. I probably took a 1/2 to 3/4 mpg hit with the 285's but they look so much better than the stock Michelin's. I just got back from a trip to southwest Colorado pulling the trailer and I didn't really see any change in towing performance either (and stability was great!). I also averged about 11 mpg for the entire trip but I was pulling a little faster than I normally like to drive because some friends pulling there unit seemed to have a lead foot. :-laf

I have pic's of my 285's on the link in my sig.
