Well, according to this site, it will be possible to order a 2005 as of 6/14/04, with production starting 7/12/04. Now I'm about 2 seconds from ordering a new 04. 5, but this has me thinking that it might not be a bad idea to wait for June to order. Has anyone out there monitored these date estimates in the past and deemed them to be fairly accurate? It sure would be torture to wait until after 04. 5 production ends, expecting to order in June and then getting stuck having to wait until October or something... and the final date to order a 2004. 5 is only 2 weeks away!! (4/16/04 according to that site!)

2005 Cab-Chassie - TBD

Once again D/C will not be offering a Cab-Chassie truck ... another kick in the teeth to Dodge/Cummins fans who want a work truck ... what a joke.

They are offering a chassis cab-a Sprinter-with a 5000# towing capacity-maybe the RAM will eventually return. I think they need to bring another plant on line-then capacity would not be an issue. Dodge has 2 RAM plants to Fords 4 "F series" plants...

On the web site referred to in the initial post of this thread, it says that 04/16/04 is the "2004 Final Order Due Date". "2005 Initial Order Acceptance" does not start until 06/14/04. Does this mean that trucks cannot be ordered between those two dates?

That is what it means, however I'm not sure how accurate it is, since I had a dealer trying to get me to order one a couple days ago, after the 16th. I would be surprised to see 2005 orders accepted by June 14, but that's indeed what I'm hoping for. I plan to order a 2005 and if I'm not 100% happy with it when it comes in, I'll probably end up buying a used pre-january 04 HO from out of state.

The dealer can take your order any time, it just might not get processed right away. I have ordered that way before, they just say what ever the rate of increase over the current model year will be added to the price. You would really get your truck any sooner, but you will be one of the first orders received.

y-knot, so according to the posted production schedule, if I were to order a truck today, it would take longer than usual to be delivered and be a 2005 vehicle?
