Rail Pressure at Idle - Data Log of Demanded vs. Actual Pressure

My 2005 has a REALLY Rough Idle and loss of oil pressure at idle while at normal operating temps. Hauled it on a wrecker to the shop. They are going to start by pulling the oil filter and cutting it open to see if we have medal in it. Should find out something early next week.

Engine is completely stock, has 436k on it. I have owned it since brand new. Never been abused, modified, or hot rodded.

Thoughts or ideas on what it could be?

I didn't pay attention to the tach; the oil pressure going to zero is what I really noticed! Basically, the truck was trying to die it was idling so rough and causing the oil pressure to drop with the extremely rough idle. Oil pressure / everything has been fine and normal since the sensor was replaced.

Glad you're back on the road.

Oil pressure must have been really low for the dash to tell you. It needs to be less than 6 psi for 30 seconds for any sort of indication.

Glad to be back on the road John. Everything is still good. Hope it stays that way for a while longer. Hope you are enjoying the 2018.

I think the crank position sensor must be on the 5 volt reference circuit huh? That’s the only way I can think the dash would react.......since true loss of oil pressure would result in actual damage (in my experience).
