2005 trans problem?

My nephew is working on a 2005. He called me, but I don't know anything about these new ones( I have a 12 valve). Hoping someone here can help

He says when he puts it in gear it wants to go(with both feet on the brakes).

Then when he gets it back out of gear it is running around 2000 rpm for a little before it ildes back down.

He has a Snap-On engine anylizer where he can read the codes and watch what is going on with solenoids and such. He said at idle the engine is at 2% load,when he puts it in gear it goes to 80% load and it sounds like it is pulling real hard from the exhaust sound.

Like I said I have no idea about these electronic trucks so anyone out there that can help,I know a 22 year old that would welcome any advice.

Just a guess, but it sounds like the tc is not unlocking. I don't know on these, but on some vehicles you can unplug the lockup clutch.



Hopefully someone "in the know" will chime in. There are a couple sharp techs on this board.

Does it have a stock torque converter? From my experience, these trucks will try to compensate the idle. It may have the POS "heavy" bd converter. Very low stall speed and could cause this situation.

It has the stock converter. I would think it is something electronic. Any one else have any ideas?
