Anyone try fitting any of the 2006 alloy wheels to a 1996 truck? I know the wheels from the newer 2nd gen trucks will not fit on the front of a 1996 but it looks like the new 3rd gen wheels might.....

Thanks,

Doug

I don't know about yours but I got the 17's off my sons 2005 and they went right on my 1999. I had to use my old center caps though.

The offset is different (deeper), but they will work... my dad ran my stock steelies for winter tires... they JUST clear the tie rod end.

You end up with a slightly narrower track width.

The newer wheels ('00-'02 aluminum) will fit the older trucks with some material removal on the rear brake drums. These wheels had issues on 98-99 trucks due to the T-style steering and issues of rubbing. I don't believe the 94-97 trucks have issues on the front.

The 03-06 17" wheels will fit. A friend has 03 wheels on his 02, no problems.

I've now seen 2 pre 98' 12V's with 03+ wheels on them and I love the look.

Does anyone know it they would work on my 2WD?

I might just have to go that route to change the look but keep it like a stocker ;)
