just got my parents truck back from dealer. they just installed a new short block. said old motor was shot. truck only had 24000 miles. but now that they got it back it still is making a pinging rattliing noises in the motor like it still hs bad injectors. and also truck gots a bad vibration throughout the drivline now. they are saying the rear diff is bad? can sit there in park on the truck and rev it up and can still feel vibration. #@$%! any body got any idea.

its automatic. they also replaced the odver drive solenoid and the nuetral safet switch solenoid on it. they said the were leaking.

If its vibrating at an idle its in the engine or the trans. If it was a naual I would say the DMF was pooched, being an auto it is possible they messed something up with the install that is causing the noise and the vibration.

Ot something in the fuel system is not right. There is no telling what it is unless a competent mechanic does the swap.

im thinking they messed up something in the transmission also. but u know they wont fess up to it. they are trying to blame it on a bad rear diff. this truck hardly hooks up to a trailer. they sai they put it on the rack and lifted it up and ran it and insist the rearend was wobbling all over. cmon thats not a reliable way to check it.

LMAO!!! :-laf Of course its gonna wobble if there is a vibration in the transmission. Its gonna bounce all over EVEN if its good. Scary bunch you have to deal with, good luck working it out.

Is this insanity all under warranty??? Am hoping so for your parents sake.

That bunch is in waaaaay over their heads IMHO.

Mike. :)

just the motor was still under warranty. none of the trans or driveline was. they are probably seeing money signs thinking they will sucker em.

You need to look at the old block ASAP before they return it. Did it melt any pistons or score any cylinders? Can you still see cross hatch in all the cylinders? If anything was melted/scored it most likely has a bad/dirty injector and it needs to be repaired correctly now. Do not drive it any more than you have to until it is fixed, and do not drive it hard or tow for sure.

according to them that the 2 and 5 injector went out was dumping to much fuel and produce to much heat and shrank. they sai the pistons had got so small u could see the rings around em. causing piston slap. when i went for it the other day i trailered it back. bout an hour away from where we live. drove it the next day it still sounded as if there was still injectors bad. i would kind of get on it a little and let go of the the fuel pedal and it would still want to rev then it would come back down to idle. i called on monday told em my issues the assistant service manager said they replaced all the injectors and still insisted the rearend was shot. i took it back that afternoon and took the shop[ foreman mechanic for a ride showed him what it was doing and he said they replaced only the 2 and 5 injector. these guys arent on the same page. i also showed how it shook while parked revving it up a little and he was still stuck on the rearend cmon how incompetent r they.

I'm going to to go out on a limb here, and based only on what you said the dealer told you, I agree you need to get out of there and get the truck to a qualified dealer.

I have never seen a piston shrink, and if it continues to accelerate when you let off the gas it still has a bad injector(s).

I am wondering how that dealer plans on being reimbursed for the warranty repair.

Could Star (or whatever the Chysler Warranty Advisiors are called) have authorized all this???

I know Cummins Rapid Serve certainly would not have.

Pictures have to be sent for review, steps have to be followed, a diagnostic and repair flow chart exists to go by.

Otherwise it would be complete chaos.

Mike. :)

If you can get the truck to Farmington, take it to Advantage Dodge and ask for Mike May, the service manager. He's an honest guy, and a pleasure to deal with. There are probably other Dodge dealers closer to you than Farmington, but it's a place to start. I would call him first and explain the problem. You could also email Mike at -- email address removed --. I don't work for Advantage. I've just been treated fairly and honestly there. Best of luck to you.

thanks everybody for the info. got the truck back finally. they corrected the problem. they replaced all the injectors finally. doesnt have the shake in the driveline anymore or the erractic throttle response. the tdr has been awesome to have. they still insisted on pulling diff cover to check the gears and found nothing wrong with them. lol. thanks again.
