2006 2500 stuck in park

Today when coming home from moms birthday lunch, I fired up the truck and it didn't want to come out of park, the indicator didn't have the circle around "P" even though the shifter was in the park position, I eventually got it in gear to go home but now I'm worried. Can anyone help?

May want to check the slide switch on the brake pedal. It's up underneath the dash. I don't remember if it is normally closed or open.

That can be caused by the rooster comb in the valve body too.

Probably the Park interlock, you can repair it or disable it entirely.

Thats what it feels like, it's not like a mechanical binding, it's like a solid stop. Any idea on how to access said part?

Take off the knee bolster, then the mechanism shows to you.
