Looking at a 2006 quad cab short bed. 200,000 miles. appears to be in good condition
anything in particular I should look at or be concerned about.
My 2004 with 311,000 caught fire and was totaled. Thanks for any input!

Automatic? Manual? 2wd or 4wd? Stock power? Stock suspension?

Can you share what caused the fire on your 2004? This knowledge may help prevent a similar occurrence in someone else's truck.

I can only guess on the cause. Passenger side near the battery. I was on the road and it showed check engine and then stalled. was able to coast to a wide spot and someone who was behind me said your on fire. I raised the hood a little and could see flame near the right battery. The lady was calling 911 and we watched it get destroyed.
What I am looking at is 2 wheel auto and stock short bed.

Ah, wild guess - crossover cable deteriorated and therefor Alternator cooked the pas. battery till it caught fire.
Or a critters nest in that corner and the turbo ignited it.

That was a fairly new cross over cable. fairly new batteries, maybe 9 months. Truck has always been garaged since new . No criters. Thanks
That's why I keep a fire extinguisher in my truck
Yes from now on. Have one in the 5th wheel. More of that 20/20
