2006 4 speed or 5 speed auto ?

Hi guys I'm looking at a 2006 2500 SLT 4dr. It's advertised as a 5 speed auto I looked up the vin and it gives 3 transmission choices 4speed 5 speed and manual. Is it possible for a 2006 to have a 5 speed? I was thinking they came out in 2007.5 Thanks for your advice.

No, if it has a Cummins then it's a 4 speed auto or a 6 speed manual.

Thank you Sir Dog. I just took my dog for a walk and she caught a prairie dog man she can run. I see this question had come up before in the similar posts but it didn't come up when I searched. I just became a member recently sure is great to have all this info available. I have a 1992 as well as a 1989 diesel and i like the simple stuff but My wife has different ideas so have to upgrade for towing a travel trailer. Ill be dealing with the overdrive issue on the 92 soon. Boy if someone could bottle up the fix for that problem they could mace a fortune.

The 2006 just has heavier duty version of the auto you have in your 92, they are very similar. The 48RE just fixed all the problems the 46 and 47 series found behind a high TQ low rpm torsional harmonics generating engine.

Thanks for the info. The odometer quit working on the 92 at 132000 I probable have at least 150000 on it now. I never had transmission problems until the overdrive issue. I may try a TPS a standard brand is close to 300.00 at Orileys so I have been putting it off.

My 93 was a great truck. It had the most comfortable bucket seats ever put in a Dodge. I'd still have it if it had a decent back seat.
