2006 4x4 Indicator Lights

I own an '06 3500 Quad Cab Shortbox 4x4 with 58,000 miles. Recently, my 4x4 inst. panel light displays have changed.



Since I first bought my truck, whenever I would turn the rotary 4x4 knob to the first "4 wheel drive" position the indicator light would light up "4 wheel drive Lock" while the second position would light up "4 wheel low".



Recently, the first position indicator light does not display the "Lock" indicator. The system seems to be working alright but, I don't understand what the "Lock" really means. How can I verify that my 4x4 system is operating correctly? Also, what should I do to correct the "Lock" indicator light malfunction? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

I too have an 06 and had a similar problem..... however my "neutral" light would stay on 100% of the time. Note: The 4x4 system worked perfectly but the light indicator did not. Dealer said it was a bad switch module (on the panel) which they replaced under warranty. Had I not had the warranty coverage I would not have replaced... ... ... again the four-wheel drive system worked fine. Good luck

Thanks Southbound. I will take a look at my bulbs, switch, and hopefully find it it something simple. When I solve the problem, I will post the solution.
