Trouble or not so much?

Will not start

I drove into work this morning and when I went through the gate, I could smell collant. A few weeks ago, I added some to the reservoir and some splashed on the exhaust manifold. When I got out of the truck, theres coolant on the front axle heavily. All the hoses were warm, truck was at operating temp and didn't overheat. My coolant filter was warm, everything seems to be flowing properly and I didn't see any noticeable leaks. However, when I touched the radiator cap it was cold and I slowly took it off and it didn't seem to be under any pressure. I know theres a leak somewhere, I just cant pinpoint it. The upper and lower hoses look fine. Any thoughts? Thanks

Pretty certain its the water pump. I can hear a slight chatter at idle and see the pulley wobble. Hopefully it gets me home and I can swap it out

I was going to ask if the engine was running or shut down. With the run off bottle with engine just shut down it should had very little coolant in it.

tlevan03,

I don’t see a signature for you so I don’t know what truck you have, but you can probably save quite a bit of money by buying a Gates pump from Geno’s rather than a genuine Cummins pump. I’ve had good luck with the Gates pump; they seem to last just as long as the Cummins ones.

Check here for Geno’s listings:

Good luck,
