Good morning all . I have a 2006 Dodge ram 3500 with the 6 disc cd with navigation system( 3 inch tall by 5 1/2 wide) screen. It is giving me issues with a blank screen , loss of controls , and I have the chance to get ahold of a complete dash assembly with single disc cd stereo with the bezel, etc. from a 2007 Dodge ram 1500. Will these stereos interchange ? I also have the infinity system . Just looking to change out my stereo with something factory , not really wanting to go aftermarket.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

FCM talks to the Radio from what I know. But if I think about it..
I had to many Mopars.
The GC from 98 definitely stored the code in the Radio, with a card in the Drivers Manual, you needed it every time the battery was disconnected.
The Durango from 12 has it in the FCM stored, no need to dial in a code as long as the Radio stays with the Vehicle.
On my Ram from 04 it was also stored in the unit, I know that because I switched the unit from a standard one to the one with the Nav (upgrade). It came with a code card and funny, first time startup it showed a Jeep Logo, second time it was changed to Dodge - so even an 04 the Radio is someway connected to the BUS system.

Just make sure you don't buy a Brick. The hardware is one thing, the software another.

On my last 06 it came with the standard CD player and I got a used OEM Nav unit , plugged right in and worked well. From what I have seen on these 3rd gens it will plug right in and work.

With that said I would price out aftermarket options to make sure you are not spending similar amount of money for old technology.

I loved the big buttons and am reception on the stock unit but that's about it.
I have a stock one-cd Mopar radio if anyone's interested. Everyone works.

Update on my stereo issues. I was able to get a stereo/ cd player from a 2007 Dodge ram 1500 , and the dash bezel. Everything swapped over , and had to switch out heater controls, etc. from one bezel to the other. Radio works , cd player works , and it all looks factory. It isn't some fancy aftermarket setup but it is good enough for what I want. I like the music under the hood more than inside the cab.

Yes it was. all that I That changed is swapped out a factory Nav stereo/ cd player (big 5 1/2 inch screen) to a 2007 Dodge 6 disc cd /stereo radio , and swapped out the dash bezel also. It all works .

Great, so the Basic comes without Code then. My Nav unit definitely had a code.
They never can make it easy it seems. Word of warning, check the very small needle in the antenna plug , as it can get bent over and you will have no radio reception! Found that out with a magnifying glass on mine when I swapped the radio over.
