So there I was... Shopping for a new truck

Good Evening,

I am planning on installing a Ranch Hand Legend front bumper and winch and that may add close to 400 pounds to the front end. Should I consider upgrading to a stronger front springs? Or is the trucks front end suspension more than capable of this kind of modification? If upgrading is a good idea any recommendations on spring manufacturers?

I upgraded my springs. I believe I calculated the weight differential to be between 400-500 lbs. with my set up (Buckstop bumper and Warn 16.5 winch). Was it necessary? I can't answer that question but note that with all the issues we have on the front end of these trucks adding that additional weight would only amplify the problems. You don't mention what other upgrades you have or plan to do to your front end, but over time I have upgraded all front-end components including shocks and sway bar.

IIRC, I added 600 lbs. capacity and 1 1/2" to 2" in height to level but I did it through my local spring shop. I do not know where the springs were sourced but they were custom to order.

Maybe you should install your bumper and winch and see how it feels and performs and go from there?
