After 10k miles, I made my first long trip without pulling the RV. Drove from middle NC to Knoxville via I-40. Trip there was 68mph and back was a little harder at 70-72.

Overhead ran from 18-22mph. Drove 550 on one tank full and calculator gave me 16. 5 mph. For a heavy truck with 4. 10s. that isn't bad. :-laf

Thats excellent. I was looking at 13 to 14 until around 20,000 when I believe it finally broke in from babying it and it started getting 16 mpg. Thats with a 6 spd and 373 gears on a 04. 5. I put a smarty on it about 3 weeks ago and started getting 17 running on #3 at 75 up and down the frwy.

Just picked up my 06 Dually last night. I reset the Ave. Mileage at the dealership and drove through town several miles in Idaho, 70MPH down I90 for 30 miles or so and another 5 miles through Spokane then 60 MPH down a hilly, curvy backroad home. Overhead at home read 18. 3 MPG. I'm happy with that knowing it's an auto trans will only get better with time... . First impressions of the truck are awesome... Waaaaaay refined compared to the 01 dually. SO quiet, it doesn't even feel right driving it... I need a CD of my old one to put in the CD player so I feel at home... Another note. . I passed a car going down I90 with my wife following me home. She actually saw a good puff of black/grey smoke when it launched!!!

That's what my overhead usually reads but, hand claculated out comes out to 16. 3-16. 6. Still not bad with less than 5k miles and a 50/50 mix of highway/city driving.

For some reason mines not "SO quiet" anymore. :-laf

I now have just over 30k on mine almost half of which has been pulling a 28' trailer. I am now running 315's and have calculated a 9% error in the miles regestered on my odometer. 500 mile trip at 65 indicated (71-72 actual from gps) showed 15. 5(almost 17!!!) Without the trailer I have seen as high as 20 indicated(21. 8 actual). These tires have helped my MPG at any given speed. Prior to installation at 15k I never saw over 17. 5MPG @ 71-72. PS looks like the odometer error is going to extend my warantees a wee bit also. ;)

My overhead always reads low. I get 18+mpg at 65mph and about 16. 5mpg at 75-80mph hand calc. That's with DDP 90hp honed injectors and TST on 1x1 or 2x1. I've added a Smarty now and it's went up at least 1/2mpg.

My truck only has a few thousand miles on it. Empty mileage has ranged from 15. 2-16 with overhead showing 18+. Towing I've been getting 10-13 mpg. Not too bad for a 4. 10 DRW 4x4 but it does hurt the wallet more than my 02 that was getting 19-21 mpg. I know it will improve with the miles as it has in my last 3 Cummins trucks.

My last truck read low by . 6 Mpg. If you do a lot of Idling this will affect that. So if it goes UP I'll be happy... .

Just commuting (35 miles each way daily, 2 local, 33 highway). If I don't go out for lunch, then I can easily average 17+ (I need to get the filters and fluids changed soon, that should go up some). Best steady number I've seen on the overhead is 22 at a cruise-controlled 52 mph. Almost 32K on the clock (and almost 800 hours) right now, but the truck never misses a crank of the key.

Local mileage can be brutal. A tank of predominantly city driving... I'm happy to see 12-13.

one my 2007 DRW 6-spd, I am getting 17. 5-18 Mpg with 1000 miles on the ticker. I am really happy. I am looking forward to getting a box of some sort, I heard of mid 20's so that is my goal.

What are 315s?

With 7,000 + I'm just barely getting 10 towing a 31' 5th wheel and a little over 16 empty. bg

I get 16-16. 5 running 70-75 mph empty. It drops to 9-10 when I hook up my 17k 48' toyhauler.

I've never achieved some of the mileage figures claimed in this thread.

My best so far is 20. 4 calculated by hand. When I got out of the truck this am the overhead showed 19. 7 I have 6 spd with 3. 73 gears and 23k miles.

2006 Mileage

I've had my 2006 Mega Cab 2x4 auto for a little over three weeks. Haven't pulled anything yet. After three tanks and 1600 miles or so, my milage has varied anywhere from 15. 9 to 17. 1. Most of the miles are a mixture of stop and go and short runs on the expressway, which around here is 75-80 or you get ran over. My 96 dually 5 spd with 4. 11 always gets 18-19 runnin like this but it sure bugged me to rap the old girl out like that. The 01 4x4 auto I gave up for the 06 would usually get 20-22 runnin the rat race. It had the edge comp, afe, straight pipe etc. Can we sell the women on the bombs with the notion of better milage?
