Archived 2006 lift pump?

A friend is stuck near Tupelo, Ms w/ a 2006 Mega Cab.

He describes his symptoms as cranking and trying to start, but it won't run.

Sounds to me like a lift pump. Does anyone out there know of any shadetree tests/fixes he might try to get it running? He has already changed the fuel filter and there was no difference. His fuel bowl was full when he changed the filter.

Could also be the computer forgot the microchipped key. Try other key.

edit: check yellow wire near/at starter.

He's already had it towed to a local stealership who said they couldn't look at it until Monday.
