Saw in person my first 2006 Mega Cab today in western NC today.

NOT impressed. TO LONG. Had 6. 5' bed. If it had an 8' bed it would be one football field long.

6. 5' bed, I thought it was going to be shorter than that. I'm gonna have to start checking dealers to see if I can spot one. It may just be a good family vehicle. I'd actually prefer a long bed, I like to haul stuff in the bed once in a while and find a shorty too limited. I ran a super crew F350 long bed for a while and the length didn't bother me. It's about time Dodge came out with a decent crew cab.

In fact, the MegaCab's overall length is shorter than the Quad Cab long bed (I don't remember by how much, but I vaguely remember it was at least several inches).

The retro fenders are slowly growing on me as well... . as well as the megacab. I hated both when they came out (the megacab due to the extra "chunk" behind the window)... . the middle of the tailgate 3rd gen lights still haven't even gotten close to growing on me though.

I'm diggin the 1st gen fenders!!! However, that "chunk" behind the rear door still looks bad. I still think the "chunk" is ugly on the dually, too. Last but not least, that new front end isn't so hot either. If I had my way, all the new trucks would have '02 bodies. I think that's the best looking Dodge ever.

I kinda like the chunk behind the read door, I would think it adds considerable strength to the cab in a roll-over. That front end definitely would benefit from an aftermarket bumper, yuk. Ditto Cool fenders!

i looked at a few yesterday morning when my truck was at the dealer having them diagnose a metalic squeek i had in the drive line

[vehicle speed dependent with launch shudder [u-joint as i told them, but they need to verify, and as usual, no parts in stock:rolleyes:]

i kinda like the grill, but the headlights do nothing for me, and the badge placment on the cummins [and the new ugly hemi badge] is way out of place i think. the dash i don't like one bit, but the massive space in the rear is nice [and i too hate the large extra metal behind the rear doors :(]

Everything old is new again, the fenders are pretty cool, i don't understand why dodge has to be in the catch up position with passenger utility, they should've kept the crew cabs going from way back in 85' or so, would have sold a billion by now.

I may have been happy if Dodge made the cab the same size as the Ford, then added that extra 11" to the bed... that would of been a 7' bed. Yeah, wouldn't hold a full sheet of plywood still but it would of been sufficient for a fifth wheel without a slider. Oh well, they'll eventually release a long bed dually and the day that happens I'll be waiting in line.

till then they will be loosing a ton of sales just from construction companys, how useless is a 6' bed on a dually it's the socker mom model

I went to Clear Lake Dodge yesterday to order some parts...

And yes, I had to sit in one! It was HUGE!!

If I needed a people hauler / trailer toter, I would not even consider a Ford after sitting in the new cab! :D

Well then, paint my face and call me a soccer mom! I've already got a few balls, how bout you?

One of those will be in my stable as soon as i can afford to trade the Magnum off. The wife has already been warned she's losing her car :D

Daddy cant get rid of his twins LOL

I checked out two yesterday in the SRW config.

The rear doors were big enough. . They are actually Disproprtionate in my opinion. . They took the bottom length of the window sill on the front doors and carried it to the rear. . This makes the rear glass look huge. And then they added the buffer zone behind the doors. . It all ends with a roofline rake that looks like it was "ALIENS" inspired.

I'd have one. . but it would have to have a hefty lift to put me and my truck load of Bit#$%# in the back seat above the crowd. (sorry, but i've got the college, no family perspective)
