First time I've seen it. Not alot to see, but it is good to know they are working on the biggest problem with the Dodge line-up. Now I just hope they fix the biggest problem mechanically, the auto trany.

I better start saving now. I would really like an "actual" crew cab, but they were never offered with a good motor.

If I start saving now, and they come out in the fall of 2006 or earlier (preferably), then I can use a graduate discount if it is available.

Looks good to me. I guess I'll be putting my 2004 for sale next year. As for the "torsion bar" question... . Nope. I believe that's the transmission/transfer case support that spans the frame rails. Plus, if you look closely under the front of the truck, you can see the differential housing.

Wheelbase may be 160. 5 cqn't tell without male scaling rule / Don't see a sway bar up front or is there something else differant about thie diff. / Can't focus the bed in my mind , but it does not look to be a full eight feet. Grill looks to have a slope across the top also... .....

I think the shell may throw off the look of the length of the bed... I don't think there's much of a chance that Dodge will release a heavy duty truck with a bed other than the standard 6. 5' and 8'... especially with all the accessories out there for heavy duty trucks (ie, slide in campers, racks, etc). I wonder if someone can zoom in on the picture and take a measurment of say the tire and use that measurment to get a scale and measure the bed... actually the front door may be the best. I'm at work now or else I'd try to figure something out... .

No need to. The box is a 6. 5' bed. As usual, Dodge is a day late and a dollar short. If you want a Full-size Crew Cab 4dr. (i. e. , "Magea Cab") LWB SRW or DRW, you're SOL.

Take a close look at these pics, long and short bed, and you can clearly see that the MegaCab is a short box! I agree with others that DC would decide against manufacturing a non-standard bed (something other then 6 1/2 or 8 ft), but for other reasons then what's available aftermarket. They would have to retool just for a bed change…. not something they'd be willing to do unless forced.



My guess is they are building the MegaCab on a Quad Cab LWB frame…thus the short box! This way they don't need a new frame ONLY for the MegaCab. IMO, this stinks! :{ I need the 8' bed and would rather give up the few inches in the cab vs 1 1/2 ft in the bed which is exactly what I did!

Just something to think about... ... I wouldn't be surprised if you would see the truck in full production by this time next year. DC has a history of midyear changes and early releases.

LOL!! Good Grief folks just because there's a pic of it out there with a short box don't mean they don't have another test mule with a long box on it also..... on the contrary, COUNT ON IT whether it's going into production or not... . don't mean squat to DC money wise.....

Yes, you are right. I was stating the 'nominal' bed lengths. Technically, the inside bed length of the short bed is 75. 9" while the long bed is 97. 9" (according to dodge.com). That's something like 6'-3 29/32" and 8'-1 57/64". Now, don't forget to subtract ~1/8" on both ends if you go with a spray in liner. :-laf



Also true... . until we see one at the dealer, we'll never know fur sure what size the bed/frame/cab will be!
