Well guys... been off this board for a while and came back and have been searching for and answer that I can not seem to find. I have found some conflicting information as to whether the 06 QC's contain a Cat or a resonator?

I just traded in my two 2004 QC's for two 2006 QC's. On my 04's I had a res and a muffler. On the 06's, I can not figure out if the little canister in front of the muffler is a resonator or a cat. Does anyone know? I'm getting ready to work my magic and lower the EGT's, but I need to know what all I can do to the exhaust system.

Thanks

Kev

Thanks for the answers guys... but I'm still a bit confused.

My 04 had a resonator about 20inches in length, and then I had the muffler.

On the new truck i have like this round 12 inch canister before the muffler. Now on all of the gas vehicles I've owned, the cat has always had a serial number and this canister that I am looking at has no engravings at all?? So can it really be a cat?

Hey there Ken... hope all is well.

well that sucks... . Thanks for the answer guys.

Unfortunately, colorado emissions are pretty strict for diesels, so I guess I gotta leave it... errg. .

Just take it off and smash out the insides with a steel pipe and reinstall. You will still have a cat for inspection.

ohh trust me, I know how to get around it. But before doing so, I've gotta get the truck breathing better and then and go do an opacity test.

I know the point of it is to reduce the soot content, which is definately what I am after... my truck stock already smokes like a pig, not sure how will do after I put some goodies on the motor.
