I am the happy owner of an 06 Ram 2500. I am getting ready to remove the standard heated / power mirrors and install the extended OEM trailer mirrors. I have a few questions and would appreciate any feedback or help:

1. I see 4 screws on the door panel; however, is there anything special to know that needs to be removed that you cannot see? For example internal clips, retainers, etc. Do you have to remove the dorr handle?

2. My current mirrors do not have the turn signal function, If I purchase the mirrors having the turn signal function, is the wiring harness already set up for signals in addition to my heated and powr option?

Many thanks!

Doug

Remove the screws on the door panel, and also the door handle (just one bolt). After removing the screws just lift up, it will come off very easily.

I don't know about the mirrors.

The wiring for the mirror turn signals is not in the factory harness. You have to run separate wires from the fuse block, or tie into existing turn signals.

The door panel does not have to be removed. Only if you drop the nuts.

The little panel with the phillips screw can be bent back far enough

to install the mirrors. I have done it many times on my 06 and 03. Just

roll down the windows first to hold on to the mirrors. Hope this helps.

* one additional thing to watch for ,after removing the three nuts from the mirrior attachment studs you need to depress the the ears of the plug in piece to release it from the door frame, then it is ready to come off.

Thanks to all for the fast reply and great advice!

Wayne, good advice on not removing the entire panel. I did remove the one screw on the portion over the mirror and it seemed like you could pull it back. I did not want to break it... I appreciate the vote of confidence.

ENafziger thanks for the heads up on the wiring for the turn signals. The gentleman at the parts counter seemed to think the harnesses were all the same. I thought it was too good to be true.

All of you were a helpto keep the project rolling. :)
