I'm having the steering gear box replaced on my 2006. It turns out there are two different configurations of this mechanism, both with the same part number. Neither the fittings nor the bolts match between the two versions. The threads on my truck's hoses and bolts are slightly smaller than what's on the replacement box. The distribution center has confirmed the difference and is shipping it overnight. This has been both an education and an annoyance.

:--)

I wonder if that is the difference between gas and diesel vehicles that parts did not catch, or, a new model. I have done a couple over the last few years and all matched.

Who knows? On mine, the mounting bolts and hose connections are smaller. If I have to order another one, I'll have to mention the possible mismatch. Will likely order another one soon since this one is turning out to be trash. All other front end stuff is tight, but the steering is mushy and the truck tends to drift at high speeds especially on curves. Nearly lost it on a curve near DFW Airport when I ran over an expansion joint in the road. Not nearly as fun to drive it these days.

I'd say forget the stock box and the upgraded box no matter what. there is huge difference between what was originally on these trucks and the new massive box. You will definitely like its feel.
