 SWEET SPOT... ... My 06 3500 DRW 4x4 auto 3. 73 turns 1500 rpm at 55; 1800 rpm at 65; and 2200 at 7500. I get 12. 5 around town with winter blend, and 22 mpg highway 55 cruise control.

I always thought the lower the rpm the less fuel you use. Am I to understand that I may get better mileage at 65mph? I know all the info on the 2nd gen 24valver, like my 99... ... but my 3rd generations sweet spot per TDR is 1800-2200 rpm. Your thoughts?

Generally, the term "Sweet Spot" refers to the point at which your engine is operating at maximum effenciency. It doesn't account for wind resistance or other factors such as rolling drag from tires, road etc. Since RV's are like towing a 8 foot wide wall behind you, that resistance exceeds the "sweet spot" gains. And the faster you go, the greater the wind resistance. That's why most folks get better mileage when they slow down.
