While driving around last weekend i noticed that the tach in the instrument cluster suddenly went to over 4K on a full throttle take off. Then to my suprise it went to zero when cruseing. This persisted throughout the day. I reconfigured by edge attitude with juice controler to show my current RPMs and they were just fine. Not sure what is going on. So on my way home that evening the tach suddenly began to register correctly again like nothing was wrong. Lastly, the wife mentioned to me, since i was following her home, that my driverside headlight was burned out. Funny thing is the lamp out indicator is not lit up. Can the tach issue also be linked to the burned out headlight and non-functioning lamp out indicator? The truck is running fine so this is very puzzling.

Your title says it all... many 2006 trucks have had problems with their tachometers, due to a manufacturing "defect" which made them with "bad" solder joints on the back side of the circuit board. The solder joint degrades over time, thus the ecntual problem.
If you are electrically handy, you CAN try to visually id the "bad" area after removing the cluster from the truck, and then using good solder techniques try to repair it.

Do a search here on "tach problem" or "cluster problem" and you will MUCH more info an either the repairs or where to have it repaired, though IIRC there are only a few places doing it anymore.

I've had two burnt out headlights and have never seen a lamp out indicator come on. I guess I'm unaware there is such a thing in these trucks.
