Have a 2006 R3500 SRW 5. 9 G56 that my son bought used in Jan. '11. Been having some trouble with it. Was bogging down and cutting out like bad fuel. While throwing codes P0336, P2509, and P0341. Change the fuel filter and wait for a while it would start running good again.
Changed the battery cables in Sept. of '11. Afterwords the engine would crank but not fire. CEL illuminated with codes P0336, P2509, P0341, and P0148. I changed the FCA and eliminated the P0148, it still would not fire.
Had a Banks Six Gun tuner on it. I disconnected it from the system and it fired right up and eliminated the P0336 and P0341.
Drove it that way for a week. Towing a trailer had a incident with the engine dieing and all the lights blinked off then back on. I was able to start the engine again and get it home. Shut it off and now it will not fire. Cranks just fine. All the fuses are good. The self test shows no codes. There is fuel at the filter.
After searching on TDR, I came up with the TIPM being locked up. Since I believe the trailer wiring is what shorted out, causing the incident mentioned above.
Does anyone have an opinion on this or a way to test the TIPM that does not involve a dealer?
Thanks in advance, appreciate all comments.
