Hi, just had same issue on my 06. Compressor is likely bad, and starting to come apart. If it seizes, you could be on the side of the road if the belt overheats and parts.

Just what i was thinking my friend looks like a trip to the dealership for repairs.I only have 60 k on truck and ac hasnt worked for 20k.So being a genius i decided to add refrigerant and soon as i started it started making that growli g sound at low rom.If im at 1800 rpm its quiet. Thanks for helping

If the compressor pulley is making the sound with the AC clutch not engaged the noise is probably the AC clutch bearing and it should be replaceable. Yhe AC clutch won't engage until you have more than 26 pounds of pressure in the system. bg

Bg does someone make a belt that will bypass ac but still run my jac brake pulley?checked Genos but didnt see one there. If you know of one would aporeciate the info.aloha

A belt is listed at Oreileys for truck without AC. It does not mention the exhaust brake. The oil would indicate the seal on compressor imay be leaking. bg
