Archived 2007.5 6.7L Headlight Issue

Tried to get some answers in the 3rd Generation forum but only got one resoponse, maybe someone here can help??



Help my truck is possessed!!! Three bulbs in the drivers side headlight since 2009. Got pulled over again last Friday night the stipud thing is out again. Smacked it a few times while I was being checked by the Local Mountie!! Anyway went out Saturday to get a bulb got busy and never made it to the store for one. Headed home and I'll be the dumb thing is working just fine highs lows everything. So there is no bulb failure.



I can't keep this up as I am gonna run out of luck. A DOA headlight gives any police the reason to pull over for anything.



Connections are good no corrosion at the end of any of the wires, checked by tugging a little on the wires to make sure they are IN the connector well too all is OK. Suggestions???

You probably need to go further back in the wiring harness. Either you have a bad ground connection or a bad power wire somewhere.



Turn the lights on. Work your way back along the harness, moving the connections. The light should flicker when you reach the problem.

I was having the same issue in my ex's '08 Subaru,it was puking a bulb on the same side about 4 times a year. After cleaning everything again,I used some electrical grease from Napa. Its been almost a year now and no issues. Took the car to the stealership after the 3 bulb in 6 months because it was under warranty,the dealer couldn't find any problems and told me that some vehicles were that way. And they charged my wife $120 to trouble shoot and replace the bulb!

if dielectric grease doesnt help, could be the TIPM?

Still got yer old bulbs? Ohm em out

I just spent the day applying electrical grease to all bulbs,sockets,any plugs I could reach,including where wires are plugged together. I was surprised to find green growing on many plugs and the so called weather resistant stuff. I've always had a single chime for the bulb out do-da and occasional water in fuel chime. I'm please to find out both chimes are now silent for first time in many years. I used Napa's dielectric grease found in their class A truck/trailer section,was told that its heaver grade dielectric grease. It is indeed a tad thicker then what I use to get in the dinky tubes you see at check out stands. This tube will last me many years.
