2007.5 - 6.7L, “Things I Don’t Like”

I now have 5,200 miles / 6 weeks behind the wheel.



1st, The engine lamp has been on 3 times, only God knows why!



2nd, At 2,900 miles the truck ordered me to change its oil, At 3k I did. Now at 5,200 it is ordering me again. I’m cool with 1st oil and filter at 3k but I want 5k out of the 2nd change not 2k! at this rate I’ll be servicing the truck just to go to the corner before long and spending more on oil than diesel!



3rd, #@$%! The side mirrors suck, the glass is totally flat and has a blind spot that hides 2 cars. On my 05 the mirrors said “objects are closer than they appear” I could at least find a place that I could see the rear side of my truck, my trailer wheels and the lanes next to me at the same time. I never needed to re-adjust the mirrors on the 05, I find myself re-adjusting the 07. 5 every few minutes.



4th, #@$%! I can’t read the overhead or the radio during the day without moving my head to the center of the truck. And all those tiny LED’s look blurry at night.



Let me know how you are dealing with these issues?

Thanks for letting us know I would like to hear others voice there concerns. Dont these trucks have 7500 mile oil change intervals like the 5. 9's?

Once had a car that had the check engine lamp on for 5years never worry about it, I wish I would had been able to manually shut it off Ho well! On my last 3 Dually I change oil & filters every 3 to 3. 5 k nice to have a light that will keep reminding me I ordered my new truck with the same tow mirrors love them , and also got the new larger size mirrors from Mopar with turn signals , I now have 2 spare mirrors for shaving For my over head it is to me not some thing that I really care for, just come with the pakage look at it the odd times when I am stop talking to my cell phone. Few more days My GREAT WHITE should be at my Dealer Oo. Oo. Oo.

Why in God's name is there a "light" that comes on to inform you to change the oil? What idiot thought up this stupid thing? Will this cause your truck to go into "limp" mode if you don't do the oil change within a specified amount of miles after the light comes one.



Does this light exist on the Chassie Cabs as well?

No -- only on the pickups because of the 2010 emissions engine. The light is listed as a FEATURE on the Cummins site for the pickup engines (2010 emissions must really hammer oil life if the engine needs a light to protect it).

I got my truck last week the owners manual claims 7,500 miles between normal truck use changes and up to 15,000 between changes if you baby the thing and not use it as a truck. I agree on the mirrors I have the DRW and I can't seem to get the right side to be where I want it at. I do find the small blind spot mirrors to work well but they are needed to see these areas. the drivers side is fine. the head rests in the back block rear window vision as well.

I am also blind as a bat. I have had three lasik surgeries in the past year. I have no problems seeing the led lights up top

but I do need to move my head to the center to see it. The truck is pretty wide inside. I have no problems at all seeing the radio I do have the NAV radio. Why don't you bring it in to the dealership for them to read the codes with the DRB. that is what warranty is for.

Maybe the engine lamp being on is the cause of the quick oil change suggestions. I'd go get the codes scanned and find out what's going on. That light isn't coming on for no reason and your truck is within warranty.

I agree with your comments regarding the right side mirror.



But it is my only complaint so far at 6000 miles. But I have an '07 5. 9.



As far as the mirror goes, at night, if a car is to the right with the front end even with the passenger door, I can't see the lights of that car at all, even if I lean forward and back. I have almost sideswiped a few people. Good thing they were awake. The only way the blind spot mirror is effective is to point the flat mirror so all you see is the lines on the road.



I think the thing might be optized or compromized for the trailer towing position of the mirrors.



I will probably be adding a dopey looking extra blind spot mirror soon.



Anybody know if there is a curved mirror glass available that can fit this mirror?

Ok several have responded to my post thinking the oil change indicator is a light.



It is not! It is a written message displayed on the overhead, that reads “Oil Change is Required” furthermore the duration is based on duty cycle not mileage intervals.



:-{} I stopped by the dealer today and the service manager agrees that 2k is not enough mileage between oil changes even at 100% duty cycle. He wants me to stop by when the engine lamp is on and they will attempt to pull the codes (scan tool required), in case something is causing a short duty cycle reading. He also stated that failure to change the oil “as required” could void the warranty!



He also agrees with the excessive blind spot, his cure is for me to buy the flip-up tow mirrors (+-$300) and they will install them labor free.

i had a 1000 miles on my new 6. 7 and dropped the factory oil out and put in some delo 400 cj4 in. 1700 miles later i also got the oil change required message, you got to be joking 1700 miles between oil changes? another thing i dont like is the dip stick its hard to read. if you do take your truck in next time you get the message let us know what you found out, thanx

This 'Oil Change Required' indicator... I assume it's not manually re-settable and it knows when the oil has been changed? How?



Those $300 mirrors must be the ones that are the $88 FWP option from the factory.

My 06 3500 runs like a top. I agree the pass. side mirror isn't convex enough to pickup more of the blind spots. They should have left good enough alone. I'm not very satified with the front seats only reclining barely 45 degrees. This is a MEGA CAB for crying out loud. The seats in a Corolla recline further.

Mine has what they call fold away power tow mirrors is this the ones you are talking about? I have not tried to flip them up in the tow mode yet.

I think mine is more an issue of the Dually fender in the back that blocks the vision with only 300 miles on the truck I have not really had much of a chance to do much

you have flip-up mirrors, also have a bit of trouble seeing with them in the down position,... and have NOT tried flipping them up?

Have not had a chance to try it yet but will soon it's hard with a sick baby and my schedule to even drive the thing

I had the same flip-up mirrors on my 04. 5. I did not have an issue with them on that truck and still no issues on this truck. I will check again to see if I find the same problem. I'm towing a 30' Airstream and don't need expensive metal work because of a blindspot.

I don't seem to have the other issues at 2200 miles.

I would question the fuel you are using. If you use non-ULSD it will cause issues like you are seeing. I don't trust just any station to actually have the right fuel even if they have the sticker. I've heard that additives will also mess with the sensor.
