2007, 5.9, A/C compressor question

My '07, 5. 9 has only 14,000 miles on it. Twice now, engine running, I activate the A/C compressor with the button on the dash and the belt makes a grumble like the compressor puts a GOOD load on it. It almost sounds like the belt slips. The sound isn't a squeal but a loud growl. It only does this once then the A/C is quiet.
This seems to have started since I got back from a 3,000 mile trip a week ago. The A/C was run ALOT on the trip.
Anything to worry about?? A/C is COLD.

Motorhead: My 2003 had to have a new compressor/clutch assembly installed last month. Truck had 40,000 km (25,000 miles). Last Fall, the fuse for the a/c circuit kept blowing on me. Turned out that the a/c compressor/clutch was the culprit. I kept driving it until the new parts came in. I went to start one day and the starter could not turn the engine over. I tried again and it barely started. I thought maybe a bad battery and them load tested but they were fine. The next time I started it the next day, the starter barely got the engine fired but all I could hear was a high screeching noise plus blue smoke was eminating from under the engine hood. After shutting the engine off, I discovered a torn and shredded belt. The bearings on the a/c had finally gave up the ghost. That was why the starter was having such a hard time getting the engine started. Don't mess around with this. Take your truck in to see if the a/c unit is toast. Have your truck towed or you could experience some damage. I was lucky I was in my driveway and not on the road. When the new a/c unit was installed we looked at the old unit. You could not move the a/c shaft with vice grips on a work bench. Totally seized.

My 07 does the same thing only on the intial start of the AC compressor I would not worry about it.

I think they all do it. I minimize the noise by engaging it at idle.

I agree. My '07 has done it since the day I brought it home.
