2007 5.9 Fuel Requirement???

OK, I'm completely confused. I thought that ALL 2007 diesels has to use the Ultra low sulfur fuel, but sales at my local dealer says the 5. 9 can use todays fuel. (the 6. 7 must use ULS).

I was avoiding 2007 (5. 9) due to the new fuel as well as other new emission controls. Mistake?

What is really going on for 2007 5. 9's?

I belive the rule is any vehical built after 1-1-07 must run on the ultra low sulfur, since yours was built prior it shouldn't be an issue unless you owners manual says diffrent.

Nope eventually everybody will have to use ULSD

I'm not sure what you have by reading your post but check your owners manual. If it has some warning like: "ULSD ONLY... severe engine damage if LSD diesel is used". . then you have to use ULSD.

If there's no warning in the manual you can burn either fuel.

I looked at a 07 cab and chassis 3500 the other day and observed two sensors mounted in the exhaust right behind the cat like the gassers. I sure didnt like seeing that and just shook my head and walked off.

Sorry! I don't have a 2007... yet. Trying to decide if I should get one, and time is running out! So the question of engine and fuel is valid... ??? and of course I don't have a manual to consult.

Before I commit to buying, I want to be sure that ALL fuels will be OK for a 2007 "made prior to 1/1/07. "

Based on some threads I've read elsewhere a lot of the US already has ULSD at the pump.

If you get a 5. 9, any diesel is ok. If you get the 1/1/07 and after 6. 7=ulsd only.

If you can, get an 06 now-don't wait. The new smog crap will ruin the effiencey and the drivability of your truck.

It's a shame.
