I am checking out a used 2007, 5.9 mega cab, automatic trans, 4x4 for a friend. The truck has 83,000 miles on it. I checked over the truck and all looked well until I started it. I started the engine dead cold, watched the oil pressure immediately rise. I tapped throttle and the engine missed on one to two cylinders. The miss was steady until I let off of the throttle. It idled okay. I put it into gear and applied a bit of throttle and no miss. I shut it down and talked to the owner a bit. I did the three key on to check for any codes and there are NO codes. I restarted the engine 5 minutes later and no miss. Any ideas or things that says DON'T recommend a purchase?

The three key on trick didn't really work on 06 and up, as far as I read.
It works on my 2007. I looked at another 2007, 5.9 mega for the guy and it worked also. That truck showed two codes. I found you have to do it quickly.

Watch that 07.5 1st year with extra smog crap and issues . Concentrate on the 07 . I would let warm up to running temp rev it up pretty high and let off on the pedal and listen to how it goes down to idle if it is not smooth it is a sign of injectors on there way out .

I will... I personally wouldn't touch a '07.5. I just wish someone would come up with a stand alone PCM or whatever it would take to put a 6 speed AUTO behind the 5.9 that has a stick shift or the 48RE.
I would LOVE an Aisin 6 speed auto in my truck. My OLD and achy left knee gets a little tired sometimes with the SB clutch.

Thanks for the question Dave. I should have posted that it was, believe it or not, 74 degrees that day. We had a weird off shore event that gave us late Spring temperatures. It is back into the high 40's to low 50's.
