2007 5.9 re-flash to stock???

The truck is a new to me 2007 Mega cab dually 4X4,,,,,still have my trusty 96 12V dually,,,LOL... i was wondering is it's possible to know if the truck has been programmed before or if i can go to the dealer and get the latest flash so i know i'm starting my mods from stock,,,,i want to get the Smarty for power levels,,and the Edge CTS for monitoring,,,since i dont have to install a bunch of separate gauges like my old 96,,,except maybe for fuel pressure gauges,,,if anyone has any good info for me it would be greatly appreciated... i've only worked on 12V since 96.

Did you purchase the vehicle from a private party?

A proficient Chrysler/Dodge tech should be able to identify the current flash in your ecm. The trick would be to speak with the tech yourself, and not through a service manager. Too much is lost in translation, by the time the tech receives the service order, he will probably just reflash your ecm and call it a day.

If you obtain a new Smarty from either Mads or SmartyPower.com, it will have the most recent Chrysler software installed, so you could stay away from a Dealer all together. Jess

Will a smarty have any previous software versions as well or only the most recent?



I have been experiencing drivability issues and have a lot of new parts installed, but I would like to replicate the same ECM settings as was installed when it rolled off the line to determine where my problems might be isolated too.



Starting with a factory stock setting would seem to be a logical point along this diagnostic journey in order to try an isolate an issue. Is such a thing possible?

AFAIK, any Smarty only has the LATEST stock software, including any and all factory updates available at the time of it's purchase, and newer if it has been updated with SMarty software since first purchased
That being said, you might be able to find someone with an older Smarty/ Smarty Jr. that did not have the newest updates, but still nothing older then when that SMarty was either first sold or last updated.
