Hi everyone my name is Garett and im new to this website. . I just ordered a 07. 5 dodge ram 3500 laramine fully loaded and was curious on what all you opinions are on the new 6. 7l and the 6speed automatic trans... i currently have an 05 2500 and love it but wasnt too happy with the 4 speed automatic. . any replys would be great... thanks Garett

The new 6. 7's have a lot of emissions gear on them and will prove challemging to modify... if i was in your shoes I would have put 5,000 into a built transmission and saved my self the rest if you like your truck otherwise. As long as YOU are happy is all that matters though. Welcome to the TDR. Fill out your signature so we know what kind of mods you have, etc.

Yea that would work but change is always good... check out my profile i believe i set it up right? lol sorry im new at this but i love this site already

Welcome to TDR and congratulation on your new order, however I'd keep the 05 due to all the emission stuff on 6. 7L. I personally like my 05 with a 6 speed standard.

Welcome to the cutting edge GT, I too am relatively new to this site and joined expressly to gain some requisite expertise prior to ordering my first CTD, a 2007. 5 3500 Laramie SRW Mega Cab. I see you've already been intoduced to the if it ain't old school, it ain't **** contingent :-laf .

All kidding aside, I learned a lot from numerous gents on this site that has saved me considerable grief and money in the negotiation phase of this purchase. I've narrowed my field of view from seven high volume dealerships to three TDR friendlies well documented in these forums and plan to pull the trigger sometime this weekend. Hopefully you joined in time to benifit from their collective expertise also. How would you rate your purchasing experience?

I heard the same thing when the 04. 5 were coming out.

I give the new a truck a whirl. that 6 speed auto should be sweet. and with 650 lb ft , 350 hp and 2 more gears might not need to hot rod it. (for now ;) )

2007.5 arriving the end of March

Selling my 2004 CTD - Ordered a 2007. 5 3500 Quad Cab. I have heard reports that the 6. 7L CTD and the 6-speed automatic trans should be good for towing. I have been interested in the factory integrated exhaust brake. I will update the Thread with my personal experiences towing our 13,000# fifth wheel. Fred

Thanks for all your replys... i ordered the truck through my dads dealership so he was a good salesman lol. . i wish i could speed up the 8-10 week build lol i want the truck already. just because i cannot wait to lift it and find aftermarket parts to make it alittle more peppy. . hows this new emisson thing with the muffler thing that burns out all the soot? im curious on how it works and all really didnt question any one i just wanted the new motor and the new body style. thanks garett

... ... ... ... . and I heard the same things in 2003 when the Common Rail engines were in their infancy.

I have a 1st-year common rail HO, and with 48. 6k miles, I've had no problems. The truck has been perfect. No one tests their engines more than Cummins.

GTarantino, congrats on your 350/650 order / purchase. I'm thinking about selling mine outright and placing an order for one soon as well.

I started out with a 2003 dodge ram 2500 when i was 17 that wasnt the high output. . bought a 2004 ford f-250 with the powerjoke. . big mistake ordered the 05 with high output loved it but now its time to try dodges new motor. . if theres a few things wrong with it here and there im sure its going to be something simple. . Cant wait till i start finding aftermarket stuff for the 07... from what i read it sounds like its gonna be a quiet truck... i like noise lol

I'm jealous of my friends 01 2500 4X4 CTD, it sounds so good loud, like a Harley strait piped without a muffler.

I bought one of the first 24V's made in July of 98!, Yes I have also been through this same thing.

Enjoy the new truck, Hope you get it quick. I ordered my 06 in late October 05, picked it up the day the dealer received it 3/1/06! so much for 8-10 weeks.

Or course the plant was recovering from a hurracane, but they built it Dec 12 2005, then it sat in mexico for 2 months.

I joined TDR for the same reason. I made a good choice. Now just to research and research. Hopefully I'll be able to pull the trigger in the next year.

ya only live once lol... my next decision is how big im gonna lift the truck lol... thinking bout going with a full throttle 10 inch kit with 38x15. 50r22... watcha think?

Our 2007. 5 Ram arrived on March 29. After only 125 miles, we love it. The 6-speed auto and the integrated exhaust brake should make it a great tow vehicle. More later. Fred

Before you pull the trigger call Dave Smith in Kellog Idaho and talk to Les McDaniels my salesman. I just bought an 07 3500 Dually 5. 9 6spd Long bed 4x4 35k and change They installed my Jacob Brake TurnoverBall Hitch Turbo bed Liner and Prodigy controller and Tinted windows for about 38,000. 1-208-661-2717 Tell Les Ron From Hawaii hooked you up He will Take Care of you Even After the Sale. Ask Him for the Orange Camo Hunting hat if you buy from him. Later Ron

Did you get the long or short bed? I ordered the Laramie long bed and have a KZ sportsman 5vr. My 04. 5 kept puking injectors so I was afraid to drive it to the grocery. DCX did fix them but I lost all faith and dealer treated me right on my lemon. New truck is supposed to ship 4/3 so any input you can give I would really appreciate.
