Got a chance to buy a 2007 5. 9L 4x4 quad SB for $34K. Dealer demo'd by a friend/salesman who put 6K on it.

Thoughts? I know I want a 5. 9L w/o all the emissions garbage, but other than that, does anyone have any input? I guess, would you do it?

Here in Alaska you can get a 2007 SB Quad Cummins 5. 9 4x4 auto for around 34K off the lot (doc fees, etc will most likely get you to 35K). Can you gaurentee that guy took care of it for 6K? most "demos" have been driven hard. I mean, when I test drive i "don't drive miss daisy. " Also don't know but if a demo is considered "used" you may get better financing for new. Let us know what you decide. Peace, Shane

34k for a demo sounds a little high to me i bet they could have come down to 32k for something with 6k miles on it IMHO

How many miles does it have? I wouldn't get it because it's a short bed.

I paid 35K for a new unit with 7 miles on it.

Put 6K on a truck and see what the dealer is willing to give YOU for it. #@$%!

I would say 30K would be generous.

Do a www.KBB.com search. Look for the trade price and then the retail price. This will give you a ballpark baseline. Somewhere in the middle. :D

A friend of mine just bought a new 2007 6. 7-L dually for 34K

Low book list is 30. 6K

Found blue book comparisons (no 07 yet there) from $30K to $37K comparable 06 models. The salesman who's demo it is/was is a friend, so I know it was reasonably treated. He is probably the one guy at all 3 dealerships in town I actually trust...

Just to thicken the plot, I used to work as a tech for this dealer a few years ago. Still on good terms with them, and they are currently my customer(s) as a Snap-On dealer - this includes my salesman friend. One thing I keep getting hung up on is that when he buys from me he doesn't try and run me down on price, so I feel a little guilty about beating him up too bad... On the other hand, that is the way it goes in the car business. I dunno.

Is it exactly the truck you want? If not, order a new one with 0 miles and get everything you want. It may cost you a little more, but I think it's worth it.

Find you a "new" one and what it will cost and then compare the price. To me it sounds high. Mine was the dealership's owner vehicle. Sticker a little over 52, when purchased it had 600 miles and purchase price was 42 and change.

Sounds high remember: mark up on on snap-on-tools is not near the markup dealers have. :-laf

Probably not my business, but it looks like you've got two good trucks already.

They are nice trucks, but the '01 will need doors and paint if I keep it, plus it needs an a/c evaporater core, new tires before winter, a blower motor for the climate system, wiper motor, and a few other small things, and that's a lot of $ to put into a 300,000 mile truck...

I ended up buying the truck based on it is the last of the pre '07 emissions, and I can have this new truck paid for for a year and a half or so, just with the money I'd have to spend on the '01 truck - and that's assuming that nothing else would break on the '01 for another year or two.

I wish I could keep them all, but I guess I can always buy another 24V stick in another year or three when I can afford it.
